I just sent the final version of my story about the keynote to editor Chuck Buxton. The one on the Web site now (12:08 p.m.) was a shotgun version. Hopefully the more robust version will be online soon.
In summary, there was no new product announcemnt, just upgrades to products already in Apple’s line.
That said, iLife ‘09 appears to be a much improved version of an already great creative product suite. The bundle, which of course comes free with every new computer, now features geotagging, face recognition, and a much, much, much improved iMovie. In fact, I might even stop using Final Cut Express if iMovie ‘09 is as good as the demo looked.
Also, for anyone aspiring to learn the guitar or piano, GarageBand will now teach you. And Apple flexed its muscles in the music industry and brought in Sting, John Fogerty, and others to provide virtual lessons. Phil Schiller, who replaced Steve Jobs as the keynote speaker this year, said Apple will add more famous muscians as time goes by. It’s could be the Guitar Hero of the instrument learning software world.
